I have been looking for artwork to put in my scrapbook room. My room is purple and gray with black accents. I wanted artwork in bright yellows and oranges with some purple mixed in to add some punch to the walls. I haven't been able to find anything that really thrilled me, so I messed around with some photos I had taken at Lime Creek and when I was in Washington DC. I tried to make them look like paintings instead of photos. I am pretty happy with the way they turned out. Now I just need to frame them with some black frames or maybe a floating frame.

The Best Dad

Template: Corey (artist unknown), Paper: GAB, Word art: Jenny's scrap place, Embellishment: Sentimental Style.

My husband is a great dad. He always put his kids first and takes a great interest in everything they do. Here is a layout with photos from his birthday.

Here are a couple of photos I edited with photoshop. The first one is some poppies from my garden. The second one is my dog, Molly. We rescued her from the Humane Society a few years ago. She is the best little cuddler ever! If you click on the images you can enlarge them to see the texture better.

Happy New Year

Wow, it has been a tough couple of weeks. We tried to host Christmas on my husband's side the weekend before Christmas, but the weather was so bad we had to cancel. We spent a quiet Christmas at home, opening presents and playing games. The weekend after Christmas we were supposed to host a family get together for my side, but my husband ended up with the stomach flu! Bah humbug! To make matters worse, he passed the virus off to me and I spent New Year's eve in bed. I am feeling better today but had planned a marathon shopping spree which i cancelled just in case my stomach decided to take a turn for the worse. I did manage to get one lay-out done. (Santa brought me PhotoShop Elements 7 for Christmas). The lay-out is a photo of me with 2 of my best friends from high school. We had our class reunion this summer and it was so great to see everyone again! Let me know what you think of the lay-out!

I am not Martha Stewart!

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. We had a yummy dinner at my mom's and then stopped to visit Lennis' mom. Our office was closed on Friday so it was nice to have a 4 day weekend. I have been working on Christmas gifts. We are scaling down Christmas this year and I plan to give more home made gifts...if I get them done in time! Where does Martha Stewart find the time? Apparently, I need more beauty sleep than she does! LOL! I did find time to squeeze in a couple more layouts. The kids went to Sears and had photos taken and then gave them to me for my birthday. What a great present! I have felt like a bad mom because I hadn't taken the time out to get photos taken in ages. Billy absolutely hates getting his picture taken and I didn't have the energy to fight him. I guess when the big sister says, "You're going!" he couldn't argue. Anyway here are a couple of pages from the package. In one of them they are both wearing their cross-country uniforms. Let me know what you think.

Some of my first digital scrapping attempts

Here are a couple of my first attempts at digital scrapbooking along with some recent attempts. I feel like I still have a lot to learn. I had hoped to get my craft room organized so I can do some traditional scrapbooking, but I threw my back out and am not moving very fast today. You know you are getting old when your back goes out more than you do!
